In our classroom, we follow a simple set of rules to ensure everyone is safe, and no one’s learning is interrupted.
Rules:
1. I can and I will respect myself and all others.
2. I can and I will keep my hands and feet to myself.
3. I can and I will follow all directions.
If a student fails to follow the classroom rules, the following consequences will apply:
Consequences:
1st -occurrence: warning
2nd- occurrence: loss of a conduct point (yellow light)
3rd- occurrence: remove from situation (orange light)
4th- occurrence: loss of privilege (red light)
5th- occurrence: parent contact (red light)
6th- occurrence: office referral (red light)
*Conduct grade: each nine weeks your child will receive a conduct grade based on their classroom behavior. They will begin with a 100 each nine weeks. Each consequence after a warning will result in the loss of a conduct point.
Rewards:
Students who exhibit appropriate behavior will be rewarded daily through: brag tags, verbal praise, free choice center time, extra technology time, coupons, stickers, and extra outside playtime. Students may earn these rewards individually, in groups, or whole class.
Parental Role:
Please assist me in reminding your child why it is important to follow the rules. If your child follows the rules, he/she will be rewarded with “free-choice” time and you will see the following color in his/her folder: pink, purple, blue, or green. (Pink-outstanding day, purple-great choices, blue-good choices, green-ready to learn) If your child does not follow the classroom rules, you will see a yellow, orange, or red dot and a brief description of the inappropriate behavior will be listed. (yellow- multiple warnings, orange-consequences, red-parent contact) Please be sure to check your child’s folder daily, and initial that day’s box. Your initials will let me know that you have seen your child’s folder that day.
I’m sure we will have a great year, and with your help your child will succeed as a model citizen in the classroom!
